Javanese Batik Tjaps being used to make Pekalongan Culture Men's Batik Shirts

Hand Stamping a Batik with a Tjap

Our bright floral batik patterns are from the north coast of Java.  The Pekalongan style bloom designs include hibiscus, lotus, and many others.

The Pekalongans are experts with tjap style batik. Tjap or Cap, is a forged copper stamp with a handle. Tens of thousands of these have been made over the centuries and antique ones can still be found. Designs ebb and flow. In addition to being solid copper, antique tjaps have become a hot collector's item.
